A fruit snack is a candy-like item, similar to gummies. They contain sugar and few vitamins. Fruit snacks are basically all empty calories. So no, dogs cannot eat fruit snacks; they can’t eat candy or other junk food like this either (chocolate and the like).
Dogs do enjoy sweet things like we do but it does not mean they should eat them – there’s a big difference between enjoying something and needing something.
There’s also the chance of choking with any hard foods; if you think your dog could have trouble swallowing, don’t feed him these kinds of items.
It is recommended that you read the list of ingredients on everything before giving any human foods to your dog, just in case anything harmful is included.
Dogs are carnivores so you should feed them what they need to survive. Just because you have a sweet tooth doesn’t mean your dog will too.
If not, your dog’s health could be in danger due to diseases caused by poor nutrition, even if it is just for a short time period. It is always best that you check with your vet before giving your dog any human food though, just in case there are any precautions or warnings.
What if my dog ate a fruit snack?
If your dog ate a fruit snack, don’t panic. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, and possibly an upset stomach. These symptoms should subside within 24 hours after eating the fruit snack. However you should still take them to the vet just to be safe.
Your vet may feed him activated charcoal which can prevent any medicine or poison from being absorbed by your dog’s body. Your vet might also feed him some fluids and have him go through a series of tests to be sure nothing went wrong.

Your dog may or may not have been harmed from eating fruit snacks, but it is always best that you take them just in case they were.

For example, chocolate should never be given to dogs; no matter what form or brand it comes in. It can cause seizures and/or lead to death in dogs after ingestion.
While it is harmful for your dog, chocolate can also be harmful for you if ingested by yourself or children. Chocolate poisoning has been reported in many cases, even just from smelling it!
Other examples of human foods that are not okay include raisins and grapes, macadamia nuts, avocados, and raw meat. If a dog eats these foods it can be just as harmful to them as chocolate.
